Yes, dad is very late in his updates as he been furiously working to avoid any service delays due to Y2K-10. Luckily it was a smooth transition into the New Year and we're still up and running... now onto the goods.

Doesn't it seem like just yesterday I was enjoying the fall days at the park?

Just soaking up nature and enjoying all that it has to offer..including leaves!

Well, unfortunately old man winter is upon us! I've decided to help pass the time indoors this year by opening up my own in-home insurance agency! It has to be pretty easy, right?

I offer the best in customer service and take the time to review rates and product offerings with each and every customer, including Mr. Dog here.

Pending litigation by Mr. Dog, it appears that career won't work out for me. How bout I try and be a sherpa that guides people on mountains with my trusty bouncy-horse?

Apparently I resemble an asian elf in this outfit.

Looking through my old stuff from last year I found this neat hat that doesn't fit me anymore.

I especially like the rat tail that comes with it (since I was born in the year of the rat)!!

Thanksgiving day we drove back to Dayton to see grandma and grandpa for lunch. Eat your heart out, Brittney Spears baby!! Look who's driving now!

Grand-Uncle Phuc was there and the next day aunt thu, uncle mike, and sophia drove up to visit us in Columbus.

Last but certainly not least, remember how we visited greatgrandma and greatgrandpa last year?

Well it looks like we're starting a tradition! Here are greatgrandma and I tickling the ivories again.

They truly are great and I look forward to seeing them more often.

Happy halloween!! This year, I got a costume with more meat on the bones!

I know what you're thinking, but I'm a lion...not an ewok like many have mistaken me for.

Due to a rainy Saturday forecast, dad and mom hopped me into the car on Thursday (despite my cold) to ransack candy from neighboring villages. I'm always down for some pillage and plunder.

Here I am getting free candy for the first time! Suckers!!!

Mom and dad took turns carrying me around the neighborhood. Hey, where'd that tail come from?

This jack-o-lantern won't be needing this hat anymore... YOINKS!!!

Saturday (Halloween Day) came around and grandma and grandpa came up to take me trick or treating in my own neighborhood.

Once again, the king of the jungle's feet shall not be touching the ground when hunting for candy.

Apparently even bees and lambs are able to trick or treat in luxury these days. Hey, they can be part of my entourage!

1st Professional Haircut

That's right! In preparation for daycare, mom and dad splurged on a professional haircut for me! At first I thought I was at the airforce museum!

.. then I was distracted with TV and toys...

.. they even broke out the bubble machine.. wowwwww!!!

but no matter what, I don't like people messing with my hair!!! Back off!!

OK, gimme the dang lollipop and I'll settle down... for now.

With what will soon be a Pham family annual tradition, we went to the farm to enjoy the beautiful fall day, which included ... a hay ride!

This farm was... how shall I put it..?... the cat's meow. "Meow".

Our goal every year is to at least grow to the next leaf!

Denver, part I

Whew. Lucky for me that
a: there was no more room in the luggage
b: kids under 2 fly for free

If I was in the luggage, I wouldn't have got to enjoy the great view of Port Columbus International... Wowwwww.

After being entertained on the flight by mom, dad, and the flight attendants I took a brief nap.

Once we arrived in Denver I got on the horn and called Auntie Thu to come pick us up.

Not only did I get to sit in a front facing seat (oops), I got to hang out with my cousin Sophia again!! She likes touching my face and hair!

Here we are at her house hangin out on the couch.

Sophia was nice enough to tow me around on her radio flyer wagon!!

Faster, faster!!!!

She also shared her toys with me...

along with her wrestling mask... "NACHOOOOOOOOOOO"

In exchange I let her sit on my high chair (actually hers) and wear my bib.

I have alot to learn from my older cousin...like how to use chop sticks properly!

and of course how to get a perfect ice cream mustache!

Here I am chilling on the back deck of the house...

just enjoying the view of the rockies!

here we are going for a walk to go get the mail. I can't imagine how much dad would complain if he had to shovel that steep of a driveway!!

we didn't go for many walks for fear of mountain lions and bears. Uncle Mike assured that they only come out in the morning, evening, or when they are digging into the garbage. Here dad is pointing to a bear claw mark on the trash dump.

Denver, part II

Today we went out to visit Red Rock, a natural geological structure that is utilized as an amphitheater for bands as big as U2.

Here Sophia and I are petting this big dog!!

Blahhh!!! it licked my face!!! Grandma had a fit when she saw this (to dad's amusement)!

When concerts aren't being held here, crazy people run up and down the steps for exercise or kickbox on stage.

I'd have joined in the athletics, but I was on vacation.

Anyone else want to head for the mountains of Coors?

Oh, did I mention my crazy Uncle Mike? He's not really crazy but that weird thing he's doing with his left arm really weirds me out...

.. to the point that even when I'm playing I've got one eye on him at all times.

Denver, part III

We went out to eat sushi to celebrate Auntie Thu's birthday!

Since all of the sushi was eaten before dad could take a picture, here's a picture of the sea bass from the day before! Note: One fish was harmed in the production of this picture.

The next day, we took a trip up 14,000 feet to Mount Evans!

On the way up we saw goats,

more goats,

and groundhog looking things!

While I cried in the truck mom, dad, and auntie braved the cold and climbed to the summit to take some pictures.

For lunch we went to Proto's pizza. The pizza was great, but watching them flip the dough was even better!!

Another day, another adventure. This day we went to check out the dinosaur exhibits at the botanical gardens.

Here we are with a T-rex balancing on grandma's head... impressively nimble!!

In the afternoon we went to a wonderous place called Heritage Square!! It's like having the state fair available year round! It's like Walmart shopper appreciation day at an amusement park!!!.... I think you get my drift.

Needless to say.... it was awesome!!!

What could be a better way to wrap up the trip than to celebrate birthdays together with Auntie Thu! Yummmmm, carrot cake!

Waitaminute, I'm supposed to blow out the candle!

After dinner, Sophia gave me a history lesson on how native americans used to scalp people!

I don't know what gets me worse, Sophia grabbing my hair or Sophia grabbing my mommy!!

Once we made it back to Columbus, I had another present waiting for me!!

Auntie Tram and Uncle Dom had sent me a cool wooden horse from Sweden, along with a matching pouch that they are selling on their website!! Paypal and major credit cards are accepted!

Happy Birthday

To ME!!!! Go Vincent, it's my birthday, I'm gonna party like it's my birthday!

Mom, dad, grand-uncle Phuc, I and the granparents went down to Kentucky to visit the aquarium. After being told that strollers weren't permitted, dad had to strap me onto his shoulders!

This isn't a bad way to enjoy the view of the fish! Notice how dad's hair looks evenly cut in the back, while mine looks more like a hyena pattern?

Mere minutes later, I decided that I would kick dad's shoulders and back until he got the hint and just carried me.

I weighed in on the shark scales at a hefty 26 pounds!!

Swimming Class - Week 2

So after a grueling 1st week of swimming lessons I went into week 2 prepared... prepared for anything but a gigantic slide!!!

This isn't a good way to start off the final week! Let's just say this was par for the week.

Fast forward to the final day. Sargeant Slaughter decides that 6 month olds should be ready to hit the diving board. Both parent and child were to jump in. Ok, ok.. she lets some kids get dropped into her arms...

... it doesn't help.

Did I mention mom was my parental help on the last day? I peed on her twice before we even hit the water.

As payback she dropped me into the water, without diving in herself!

I'll get you for this, mom!!!

Our reward for forced bravery was a sugar free lemonade popsicle. I don't even like cold food, much less food that's ice cold(yet)!!!

After all was said and done, I earned my Goldfish certificate!! You'd think that after two weeks of saying my name that they would know better than to spell it as "Vicent".

Swim Class - Week 1

Yes, it's true. Despite the fact that I'm only 11 months old and don't understand more than 2 words that my parents say, they decided to sign me up for swimmming lessons. Damn you, Michael Phelps!!!

This lady (yes I said lady) that I'm staring at is my swimming instructor. I call her Sergeant Slaughter. The first day of class she declared that no matter how much crying, nobody gets to leave the pool. Ever since I've been testing the limits of this statement.

Here I am on this float-thingy. No one ever told me not to drink the water!!

By day two I was all cries all the time.

If you think this was just a vincent issue, think again!!

OK, ok, now this depth I think I can handle.

Whenever you get this many large people and their kids encircling a weird shaped statue like this, bad things are going to happen...

Argghhhhhh!!!! Run for cover!!!

This whole week has me questioning my invincibility. Stay tuned for the final week of swim class update to see if I improve.

Travelin Man

This post is about the travelin man... we start off with dad traveling back to Dayton to take grandma fishing. Here grandma and I are waving to him goodbye. Notice how our bottoms are almost camoflauged into the garden, yet our tops stick out like a sore thumb.

Meanwhile, back in Dayton, grandma is sporting her "Where's Waldo" shirt with her Mary Poppins hat. I hear it does wonders to attract fish.

Once dad got back in town we started jamming on the keyboard. Luckily all we have to do is press a button to play a song, cuz dads got no skills.

Back to the traveling man theme... I got myself a new set of wheels!! With this machine, my mobility is near limitless!! Also, it opens up other opportunities...

Now, we all might have our local peasant (sorry auntie tram) sticky rice dealer going door to door talking slang and trying to push sticky rice on you and your kin.

With my new wheels I run circles around the competition. Plus with my strength I can carry over twice the sticky rice, YES I SAID TWICE AS MUCH!!!! Plus with my authentic looks and charm I'm the complete Laotian package.

Even when I'm too pooped to use my walker anymore, mom helps to push me along in the stroller to get sticky rice to our wonderful customers... WE LOVE YOU LONG TIME!!!

Mom and dad also got me a new bike carrier and hardcore helmet so that I can ride with dad!!!

Back in the garage the laughs continue..

Father's Day

Allow me to once again apologize on dad's behalf. He assumed his Father's Day gift was a two month hiatus from posting.. it wasn't.. anyhow, back to the good stuff. Here I am reading my morning paper.

Some days mom and grandma like to dress me up like I'm the tough guy in a boy band like Backstreet Boys or N-Sync... that's pretty tough!!

Nothing is more frustrating than fighting against the wind to get the balls out of this pop up machine...

Mom's Birthday!!

Woohooo!!!! It was mom's XX birthday!! I decided to drive us all to our favorite Persian restaurant for lunch!

Once we got there, I surprised mom with her gift.. my new found ability to hold and eat my own food!!

Ooooo, impressive!

Here we are at my favorite toy store at the Polaris mall!!! We've been there 4 times without ever buying anything and I get to play with all of the toys!!

Ooooo... this tunnel reminds me of a day about 11 months ago....

Except there wasn't anyone else in there back then!!! What the??!!

Mom and I decided we'd blast off together to explore the universe... not sure who invited the little redhead copilot.

I managed to find an isolated planet to call my own...

... but like most planets at the mall, a little girl came and stole it from me.

once I returned to earth, I went on a safari with my new friend Lionel the Lion

now that i'm a big boy, i don't cry in these silly little spaceship rides

Many firsts and new adventures

Since it's been a whole month, we have alot of updates for my many fans and followers (still just three)!! First order of business... Sophia's World has been updated with a flurry of posts!! More than I've seen my whole life, as a matter of fact. Simply click on the link to the right for less youthful entertainment from my cousin Sophia and her friends Calder Monkey and Cora.

Second big announcement... Auntie Tram and Uncle Dom got a new dog named Ruby!!! I'm assuming by the name that Ruby means black or white. Awwwwww... obviously this brings one thing to mind...

I WANT A PUPPY!!!! WAHHHHH!!!!

OK, now that I've got that out of the way, back to some firsts.. I've been getting mobile, log-rolling style!! I usually go in a circle and end up in the same place, but it's still fun. (I've since began to crawl!!!)

I've put all four of my new sharp teeth to good use.. chomping on an ear of corn!

I've began eating other non-astronaut food too.

Like WATERMELON!!! YUMMY!!!!

I still haven't mastered eating watermelon like grandma, but I'm well on my way!

Grandma and dad put me on the bounce and spin zebra shortly after I woke up... as you can see I was less than ecstatic.

but soon thereafter... I was bouncing around on it like a cowboy!

Grandma & grandpa had just come back from France. Nothing says "I missed you" like gold (thanks French auntie & uncle).

Cousin Maria and family stopped by to see our new digs. They look pretty happy to see the house.

But once they thought the film wasn't rolling their true levels of excitement showed.

Summer is all about outdoor events and festivals. Here we are at the Asian Festival with my first balloon... my name is Vincent, not Chase..?..! Anyone else notice that there aren't many asians here?

Here mom and I are on stage after being announced as Number 1 Asians. "We love you Columbus!!"

After I woke up from my slumber, mom and dad brought me back to the aquarium so that I could consciously enjoy it.

Later, we ran into my new arch nemesis. I thought I could take him till he stood up straight.

This behemoth with juggernaut genes ranked in the 98th percentile for 9 month olds. He also didn't know how to keep his hands off of my face.

We then checked out the carousel... man is that fast!

I got to see sonic the hedgehog.

and then pet the pet turtle.

Mom and dad wanted me to get my picture drawn, so I tried to sit still and pose for awhile...

Mothers Day - 9 months old

Hey, can you try and knock before you just barge in? Just kidding. I just had my 9 month checkup. I'm down to the 80th percentile for weight at only 21lbs 13oz. My height is at the 85th percentile at 29.5 inches. Last but not least, I'm at the 90th percentiles for... head size!! 18.5 inches around. I have to borrow hats from my dad now... but enough about me....

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!

The day started rough for dad. In addition to cards and chocolates he told mom that he could hold me for 9 months also.

..20 minutes later we were at Smackies bbq!!! They have the best bread and cornbread muffins I've ever eaten!!

Afterwards we went to the park. This is my first time on a swing with mom gently pushing me.

In honor of the 500th visit, we're showing a never before seen picture of my new sleeping bag (from china)... luckily i will be able to wear this one until i'm 12.

BREAKING NEWS: Chinese grandpa has left the country... I repeat.. Chinese grandpa has left the country... and left me holding the bag. BTW, notice the great haircut i got. 2nd time is the charm!

Hopefully grandpa wins some mahjong, feels better, and comes back to visit me! Of course, grandma is still here!

and of course mom would never leave me! especially with how cool I look in this red hoodie.

March was a crazy month... but I'm back online and ready to please my fans!!

Chinese granny left so Vietnamese grandma and grandpa have been coming over more often on the weekends to help.

Luckily, mom and dad were able to find a replacement Chinese granny to come see my on weekdays while they are at work. She's very nice and we go to the same barber shop.

It's March Madness time so dad tries to watch the basketball games.

Mom says I can't watch tv, but I'm too quick for anyone to catch me peaking!

ok, maybe not that fast.

of course, Mom isn't always around to watch me!

What, praytell has this young bachelor been doing? ... Just hangin out.

...learning how to blow bubbles with my mouth...

...but mostly just chillin. Oh, these booties? Gramma brought them from China. I guess all the little boys wear them there.

What's that? Due to the booties and the long hair, I've been mistaken for a baby girl? What should we do?

Well, mom tells me I still look great. Whattya say? I guess I do look like a certain celebrity...

Oh well, I'll still get by with my charm. This is how my new haircut looks right after I wake up... POOFY!!

Ding, ding, ding!!! Weighing in at 20.5 pounds, 28 inches tall and ranking in the 90th percentile... VINCENT THE INVINCIBLLLLLEEEEEE!!!! As you can see by the pic, I'm big, but still lean.

Oh blogger fans, oh blogger fans, why do chicks dig me? Let us count the reasons..

1. To be honest (yet humble), I'm devilishly handsome...

2. I'm a snappy dresser...

3. I accessorize well...

4. I excercise to stay in shape. Here I am doing more pushups with mr. bear

5. I love animals... we're just wrestling.. mr bear and i aren't like that...

Dad forgot the important pics as he's understandably tired from the house move. Here's my 28lb cousin holding my 19lb body. I have over two whole years to catch up!

My auntie thu must be pretty powerful to hold the two of us!

Grandma and grandpa on the other hand need their combined strength to pick me up.

Now to the goodies... Sophia got a Kung Fu Panda dvd and shopping cart from mom and dad!

she also got a lot of groceries to put in the cart!

Both grandmas received a locket with pictures of yours truly inside...

and grandpa got a calendar with several fabulous models pictured.

and what was I doing the night before Christmas? Praying for presents, of course!!

Aunt Miriam and the Zifer family were kind enough to buy me a nice Christmas themed outfit. Unfortunately it didn't fit (see previous post regarding growth spurts) and dad replaced it with this ridiculous Santa outfit. Am I just entertainment for you guys?!?

Here we are in front of the Christmas tree at grandma & grandpas house in Dayton. Does dad own any non-Ohio State shirts?

Grandma prepared quite a spread of food for everyone to eat. Grand Uncle and Auntie Phuc (watch how you pronounce it) came to visit from North Carolina and so did Dad's cousins Kim and Chad from Virginia..I like them because they make funny faces for picture-taking too!

Anyway, just breaking in the New Year.. my first.. hanging out... reading a book or two...

maybe mom and dad have been reading to me also... yup... just hanging out...Oh, did I mention we moved? It wasn't a big deal to me.. I've been sticking to my eat, play, and sleep regimen but mom, dad, and grandma have been awful tired recently.

Here's a picture of our old condo in Hilliard which is currently for sale... 2 bedrooms..one full and two half baths... minutes away from convenient shopping..just tell the realtor I sent you and I get some of the commission.

Back from my 4 month doctor visit

The bad news is I got more shots...but I can live with that.

The good news is I've grown in height to 26 inches, which doc says is in the 85th percentile (despite the WHO graphic below)!!

I'm also 17 lbs 9.5 oz, which doc says puts me in the 90th percentile!! For some reason ever since the doctor visit mom and dad keep using the term "borderline obese" and calling me the "Michelin Man"...
who the heck is the Michelin Man??

I think I should feel offended at this point...

OK, you're right! It could be much worse!!

Thanksgiving, Buckeyes, & the Tiger

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Look at the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner that dad made!! It's amazing how fast he can cook a turkey. He just takes it out of the City BBQ bag and "poof", turkey breast is done! The only thing more amazing is how short grammy's hair is.

Daddy and I spent the next day watching Buckeye basketball. I play the role of Mike Conley Jr and he is my shooting guard Jamar Butler.

Dad maximizes TV time by switching over to football during commercial breaks.

That evening Aunt Meggie and Uncle Tiger invited us over for dinner and cake. As you can see, I don't wear my jersey all day long like dad does.

Uncle Tiger had a big, green, comfy papasan chair... it made me happy.

Today I met Santa!!

Today we went to a place mom calls the Turtle Mall. While there weren't any turtles, the people and dog sure looked weird.

The highlight of the day was of course meeting Santa. I had to tell him that these red hats look alot more natural on me than they do on him.

After our photo shoot we decided to talk business. It's 2008 and he's still using a sled powered by reindeer? I decided to give him some ideas.

No, no, no.. this is still too slow. This truck is a mix between UPS and the ice cream truck.

This is what I'm talking about. High end speed with easy rooftop landings for delivering presents.

ARGHHHH!!! WAAAAAHHH!!! I said fast, not break-neck speed! Plus what the heck is dad doing on the wing!!!

We started the holidays early this year! We went back to grandma and grandpa's house two weekends ago.

Since auntie thu, uncle mike, and cousin sophia can't make it home for Thanksgiving, they came back to Dayton early to see all of us.

I like spending time with my pretty cousin sophia. she can look just as disinterested in picture taking as i am.

she's also multi-talented enough to hold a doll and read a book upside down at the same time!! Wow!

and to top it all off, she can rock the pigtails and milk mustache look... oooo... impressive.

On the way home we stopped by great grandma and grandpa martel's house.

great grandma martel gave me my very first piano lesson!

Lang Lang, eat your heart out. With my more stylish hair and charming looks, your reign as top pianist is coming to an end!!

Last, but certainly not least, Aunt Meggie and Uncle Tiger stopped by again and this time I was awake!! I was rewarded with my very first Christmas present ever, a new winter coat!!!... ummm ... cozy....

To start, the not so fun part. I was excited to see my dad's cousins Mario & Melinda stop by. However, though I can't read, I know an inappropriate T-shirt when I see one.

That's grand uncle Dien and super distant cousin Manuel. He looks neither asian like me or latino as his name would suggest. hmmm.

Anyhow, back to the fun part!!! I can smile at will now! I especially like to grin after passing gas.

Even more exciting, Mom and dad got me an Ocean themed playmat... AWESOME!!..TO THE EXTREME!!!! Even with the economy down, they're so thoughtful.

Dad finally recovered from the USC-OSU debacle-Week5

The day started off with high expectations and promise of an OSU victory!!! Here I am wearing the OSU away outfit that my buddy Jacob, Aunt Vicki, and Uncle Sam sent me.

By noon, I had succumbed to the excitement of gameday and soiled my away jersey so we switched over to the home jersey. Dad knew it was a bad omen when I peed on my away jersey.

I of course slept through the game, but could sense the cries of fellow Buckeye fans from around the world.

I wasn't too happy when I heard about the final score. Where's that pacifier at?

Dad and I consoled each other throughout the next day.
